Real Madrid no longer want De Gea after what he told them

Manchester United nearly saw De Gea join Real Madrid back in the summer of 2015, with the two clubs agreeing a deal on deadline day. However, paperwork problems saw the goalkeeper remain with De Gea since going on to help the Red Devils win the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League.

Real Madrid are in the market for a new shotstopper with Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois on their radar, despite the imminent arrival of Kepa Arrizabalaga.

And Spanish newspaper El Confidencial have claimed they are no longer chasing De Gea because the United man is no longer interested in a move.

It is said the Spain international was recently approached by Real president Florentino Perez.

Sky Sports’ Guillem Balague claimed a deal for Chelsea’s Courtois was likely.

“Real Madrid have been told in no uncertain terms by Thibaut Courtois' camp that he wants to sign for Zinedine Zidane's side,” Balague told Spanish newspaper AS Diario.

“The return message is one of interest from the La Liga outfit.”
