Man Utd are finally going to sign Real Madrid star in January

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho openly discussed a move for Bale during the summer window. The Portuguese revealed before United’s Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid in August that he would fight for Bale’s signature if the 28-year-old was left out of Zidane’s line-up.

But the Welshman started, prompting Mourinho to end his pursuit of the former Tottenham winger. However, Mourinho has again been linked with a move for Bale as he looks to get United’s title race back of track.

A Paddy Power spokesman said: “Jose Mourinho clearly needs a bail out this season, and it looks like he’s getting that with a Bale in.

“We have seen crazy numbers on this transfer taking place over the last 24 hours, forcing the traders to perform a monster plunge on the odds of Gareth Bale arriving at Old Trafford in January.”

Bale has won 10 honours during his time at Real Madrid, including three Champions League titles and one La Liga success, but has struggled with injuries over the past 18 months.
