Confirmed! Three Man Utd players out for Basel Clash

Manchester United are set to be without Phil Jones, Michael Carrick and Eric Bailly for the Champions League clash with FC Basel after the trio missed training ahead of the trip to Switzerland. Jones, who took six pain-killing injections to play for England against Brazil last week, is suffering from a thigh problem while Bailly remains out after missing the win over Newcastle United with an undisclosed problem, reports IBT Times.

Carrick meanwhile is reportedly suffering from a mystery illness which has surfaced amid his recovery from a calf problem. The 36-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract with United, has not played a single minute in the Premier League this season.

But they were the only absentees from United's final session before they set off for their fifth Champions League group match. Jose Mourinho's side only need a point to guarantee themselves passage to the last 16 after winning each of their opening four games.

Mourinho will address the media at 5pm GMT when he is expected to confirm that the three players will miss the game.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in line for the first United start of his second coming with the three-time European Cup winners, after making a 13-minute cameo appearance against Newcastle on his return from a seven-month long absence due to a knee injury.
