Roma hit with two new injuries; Advantage Chelsea

Chelsea may be handed a double boost by news that Roma will be without two more players to face the Blues in the Champions League showdown in Rome. It is a match that could decide which club takes command over Group C with Atletico Madrid having so far failed to match expectations as the early favourites to snatch the top spot outright, reports Calciomercato.

In the 59th minute, Defrel went down with an ankle injury. He was replaced by Diego Perotti, whom manager Eusebio Di Francesco had hoped to rest prior to their Champions League clash. The Frenchman, who has endured a rough start to his career at Stadio Olimpico, and has drawn ire from many fans, sat on the bench, ice around his ankle, and looked completely dejected.

Bruno Peres was substituted out only 10 minutes later with an unknown right leg injury, which appears to be muscular in nature. Hector Moreno replaced him for the remained of the match.

For the Brazilian, the injury comes at an especially frustrating time. After struggling mightily in his debut season last year, his struggles continued this season and his playing opportunities appeared to be decreasing with the return of Rick Karsdorp. However, the Dutchman tore his ACL in his return and is out a minimum of four months, which opened a spot for Bruno Peres.
