Sky Sports Confirm Perisic move to Man Utd has failed

Ivan Perisic flew to China with his Inter Milan team-mates on Tuesday afternoon after Manchester United failed to reach an agreement with the Italian club over a fee for the unsettled Croatia winger. Inter have been holding out for £49 million for Perisic but after weeks of negotiation, United have been unwilling to go that high, reports Telegraph.

Perisic was hoping a deal would be push through in time to avoid having to fly with Inter from Milan to Nanjing on Tuesday for the start of the club's pre season tour of China and instead join United in the US.

Perisic posted and subsequently deleted a message on Instagram on Monday with a praying emoji next to a plane taking off, a thinly veiled reference to his hopes of skipping Inter’s flight to China

United were stagnant so often in attack last year because defences knew we would cut back inside or pass to an overlapping full-back. Perisic would change that and provide an unpredictability which causes havoc for any defence – we certainly need that.

And the fact Perisic is a workhorse too makes him a very typical Mourinho signing. He’ll cover every blade of grass and put just as much effort in helping in defence than he will in spearheading attacks down the wing.

For me, the arrival of Lukaku is a major reason why signing Perisic makes a lot of sense.
