Matteo Darmian took part in Manchester United’s training session at UCLA on Tuesday, after suffering an injury scare in the closing minutes of the 2-1 win against Real Salt Lake. The boss fielded two teams in the friendly, making 11 substitutions at half-time when the Reds were leading thanks to Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s cute finish and Romelu Lukaku’s first goal for the club, reports Official MUFC site.

Mata was among the players who came on for the second half but he was forced off shortly before the hour mark. Darmian picked up a knock in the 89th minute of the game, limping off and walking straight down the tunnel.

Speaking to MUTV, Matteo looked forward to the derby later this week.

"Every game we play we want to win and of course this is a derby, not a friendly, so we are going there to win. Playing against these kinds of teams is always good to improve in pre-season, too."
