Nelson Semedo Joins Barcelona amidst Man Utd links

Nelson Semedo didn't think about any other offers once he learned of Barcelona's interest, the Portuguese said after joining the Catalan club from Benfica in a deal worth an initial €30 million on Friday. Semedo, 23, moves to Barca on a five-year deal as the Camp Nou club hope they've finally ended their search for a new right-back following the departure of Dani Alves last summer, reports ESPN.

Speaking at his first press conference, he took aim at United by saying he couldn’t consider any other offers once a move to Barcelona was on the cards.

‘Since I learned about Barca’s interest, it was my first choice, I did not study the others, you know how difficult it was to make this transfer,’ he said.

‘I received the news with great joy and responsibility, all players want to play for Barca.’

Semedo replaces the legendary Dani Alves in Ernesto Valverde’s side, with the club struggling last season due to rotating between Aleix Vidal and Sergi Roberto at right-back. Barcelona were also linked with Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin in that position but decided against pursuing him due to the Gunners’ firm stance that he would not be sold this summer.
