Man Utd hero on verge of joining Chelsea

Chelsea are set to go head-to-head with West Ham for the signature of former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, report the Express. As per the Express, Antonio Conte is desperate for a new striker, with Diego Costa set to depart Stamford Bridge after three prolific years as a Chelsea player.

The East London side are thought to have the advantage over their London rivals Chelsea, as they could offer Hernandez regular first-team football, as well as a bumper contract.

The Mexican international has previously experience in the Premier League, having played for Manchester United between 2010 and 2014. Nicknamed 'Chicharito', the striker scored 59 goals in 157 appearances while playing a bit-part role for the Red Devils. Now at Bayer Leverkusen, Hernández has scored 39 goals in 76 games.

He made 36 appearances in all competitions for Leverkusen last season, bagging 13 goals along the way. There is just one year left to run on his contract with the German outfit.
