Chelsea make stunning €100m bid for Star Striker

Chelsea’s bid to sign a top class striker has seen them have a staggering bid turned down for Gonzalo Higuain. Tuttosport in Italy report the Blues have come in with a £88m (AU$147m) offer for the 29-year-old Argentine which Juventus have REJECTED. Juventus have already lost Leonardo Bonucci to AC Milan and Chelsea have been negotiating to sign their fullback Alex Sandro, reports CaughtOffisde.

But Chelsea, according to Tuttosport, made a move for Higuain 10 days ago in order to find a replacement for Diego Costa. It was Higuain’s first season with Juve, having joined from Napoli for €90m ($132m) before going on to score 32 goals in 55 games in all competitions.

It’s claimed that the conversation between the two clubs was opened around 10 days ago, but ultimately it hasn’t gone anywhere as the Italian giants want to keep the prolific striker, especially having already sold Leonardo Bonucci this summer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea may have better luck with their €70m pursuit of Alex Sandro, with Antonio Conte chasing a new left-sided defender to add quality and depth to his squad.

It still seems a little strange given that Marcos Alonso did a stellar job last season and so spending so heavily in that position this summer would be a questionable move when all that is required is a solid back-up option.
