Chelsea have deal in place with Serie A Club for Pasalic

Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic is set to return to Serie A this summer, report Calciomercato. Pasalic spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan with AC Milan, making 23 appearances in Italy’s top tier, and finding the back of the net on five occasions. It looks as though the 22-year-old’s time in the country is not over yet, reports HITC.

ABC Sevilla claimed that Celtic, as well as Leeds United, were interested in a midfielder who had been likened to Frank Lampard for his ability to make perfectly timed darts into the penalty area. The report added that he would cost around £9 million, although Brendan Rodgers had admitted earlier in the year that he would be willing to break Celtic’s transfer record for the right player (Daily Record).

However, recent speculation suggested that Serie A side Lazio, who have just signed Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva to replace AC Milan bound Argentine international Lucas Biglia, had jumped to the front of the queue, thus seemingly ending Celtic’s hopes.

The Italian outlet believe that Lazio will pay £880K in order to secure the Croatian’s services on a temporary basis, and will have the chance to sign him on a permanent basis for £8.8M in June 2018.

As per Calciomercato, the deal could be concluded in the next few hours. Pasalic’s exit from Stamford Bridge appears to only be a matter of time.
