Chelsea Days away from agreeing £60M Aguero transfer

Chelsea have "serious and strong interest" in signing Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to Sky sources. The Blues will try to sign a striker this summer to replace Diego Costa, who has been told he is not in Antonio Conte's plans for next season.

The champions are poised to take advantage of the Argentine's uncertain future at Manchester City .

After losing Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, Chelsea are ready to test City's claim that they are determined to keep Aguero at the club.

When asked if Aguero was staying in May, City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: "Absolutely. There's never been a doubt about that. I've read a lot of the speculation on this and it's ridiculous.

"Sergio Aguero is one of the best players in the world. We are a team that aspires to win every competition we compete in.

"Having Sergio Aguero as part of the squad is an absolute must. It has never been in doubt."

Aguero was only recalled to City's starting line-up last season when injury struck Gabriel Jesus in early February, ruling him out until the final few games of the season.

And with City's regular wide roles likely to be occupied next season by young duo Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling, Aguero could yet find himself surplus to requirements.
