Sky Sports pundit reveals Diego Simeone wants Diego Costa

Sky Sports journalist and Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague, has revealed a shocking news that Atletico Madrid boss, Diego Simeone, has set his sights on bringing Costa back to Madrid. The more important revelation is that Chelsea are ready to offload the player and make space for Gonzalo Higuain, reports Daily Star.

Guillem Balague said:

"Gonzalo Higuain is a target for Chelsea.

“I think he would cost around €48m (£38m). Higuain is seriously considering it and if he does move to Stamford Bridge then there would be the possibility that Costa would have to be sold.

"It’s very difficult for Atletico Madrid, and Diego Simeone in particular.

“Simeone has told Atletico Madrid he only wants three players: Diego, Costa and Diego Costa.

“He’s determined to get him but it’s not easy to get him as he will have to reduce his wages big time and I’m not sure Atletico will be able to put a huge offer on the table for him. It’s one to keep an eye in the future because they certainly want him."

Antonio Conte is a huge fan of Higuain and there is no way he could accommodate both Costa and Higuain in his plans. That partnership is very volatile and both like to be the lone striker up top rather than share duties like Rooney does with his fellow strikers. Diego Simeone will fight tooth and nail for Costa, but the biggest stumbling block will be his wages.
